Revising Chant - V

Remember those revisions I thought would be simple?  A brief insertion, maybe a little editing to smooth the edges, all done?

Yeah, well.

No matter where I splice it in, it feels about as awkward as a product placement ad in the middle of Cool Hand Luke:

"What we got here is failure to communicate."

"Cap'n, you can't put a man in the box just because he don't have a smartphone!"

And now they're bugging the crap out of me, those little dangling plot threads.  My current plan is to simply move ahead with the rest of the little edits.  I'm on a roll with the other pieces--all of them, even the ones that are more extensive--and momentum is important.  Then I'll hop back to insert the troublesome pieces at the most likely places, resist the urge to re-read it yet one more time, then send it to my one beta who hasn't seen this version.  If she doesn't spot the Product Placements, I shall cease fretting.

Perhaps this will teach me to be a wee bit more careful about leaving secondary, even minor, characters to wander about without resolution.

Ah, yes... I keep telling myself it really shouldn't be so difficult...
