Halfway There

At last, I've passed the halfway point in Chant, leaving about 68K yet to be revised.  Tomorrow I need to invest the time in redoing my timeline reference so I can keep straight who knows what when, and where they are when they know it.

I'm rather enamoured with my new revision strategy.  If a section is troublesome, my first move isn't to fix it.  I figure out if I can cut it instead.  No more wheel-spinning.  By the time I reach the end, I'll likely have cut nearly ten percent from my over-140K novel.

I want to finish revisions in two weeks.  I am so ready to hand this off, to get it ripped apart, to see what else needs fixing and tweaking.  Then I'll be glad to send it on its way and pick up the next project--something completely different.

I must try that technique: seeing if the troublesome stuff can be cut.

It's wonderously freeing! I've found my troublesome stuff often results from trying to keep something I want in the story--whether the story needs it or not.
