How I Spent My Mini-Vacation

First, you should know two things.

One: I brought far more stuff for writing than I could ever hope to get through, but I wanted to make sure I had every possible thing I might want to read or reference or re-write or make notes about--just in case.

Two: I forgot to bring the majority of my food.

Priorities!

Not that I starved, mind you. I had a couple boxed soups, some fruit, snacks, and coffee. And I did manage to remember Gambit's food, so we did all right.

Writing progress will be in another post. This one is for pictures.

This was my campsite view:

And here's the dog with "more tongue than face" while thoroughly enjoying hiking. We didn't go nearly as far as I wanted, alas, but it was a nice hike anyway.

Then last night's sunset and darkening sky...

From the sight of those pictures, you two had a lovely time!

We really did, for the most part. The parts that weren't wonderful sound, in retrospect, like me just being grumpy. :)

Of all the things to forget, the food was probably the best choice. :) I'm just glad I had enough to get by so I didn't have to risk confining Gambit to the tent while I foraged at the tent-sized "camp store" for expired marshmallows and overpriced Spam.

(I considered it, but knowing how Gambit once rolled his dog crate around the house like a hamster-ball...)

I'm glad you made out all right despite lack of food! Your photos, especially the pink-sky one, are beautiful.

Thanks! I've been trying to get better about taking pictures over the past year or so and, in the process, trying to get better AT taking pictures. :)

Now, that looks like the life! And Gambit looks quite happy, too.

Was it warm where you were?

The weather couldn't have been more perfect -- upper 70s/low 80s during the day, upper 50s overnight. Even better, the incredibly cool summer meant there were hardly any mosquitoes!
